1. Demonstrable adherence to the breeding and selling practices described in WPKA’s Breeders Pledge and Responsibilities of the Breeder.
2. Exhibition of good sportsmanship in all phases of dog activities.
3. Sponsored by two current WPKA members in good standing who have known the candidate for a minimum of two years.
4. If transferred into the area, must have a letter of recommendation from previous club plus a possible telephone interview with an officer of that club, if clarification or additional information is required.
1. Both must have had an ongoing interaction with the candidate for at least two years.
2. Both must be willing to share their knowledge of how the candidate meets the requirements listed above and on a written questionnaire and possibly in a telephone interview with a member of the Board of Directors, if clarification or additional information is required.
3. Sponsor must have visited the candidate’s premises.
4. Neither may sponsor a candidate who is a member of his or her immediate family, nor anyone who lives in the same household.
5. Neither may sponsor more than two candidates per year.
6. Neither may sponsor a candidate with whom they or anyone in their household co-own a dog
1. A sponsor secures an application from the WPKA Secretary for candidate to complete.
2. The completed membership application accompanied with dues are to be submitted to the Secretary.
3. Incomplete applications will be returned to sponsor.
4. The names of the applicant and their sponsors will be published in the WPKA newsletter for comments by the membership.
5. Letters for and against the candidate are to be submitted to the Secretary and then discussed at a Board of Directors meeting.
6. All applicants approved for membership will be placed on a one-year probationary period. During this time, the applicant(s) must attend at least one club meeting and work one club event, or the applicant(s) must work a minimum of two club events if they are unable to attend meetings. At the end of the one year probationary period, the Board of Directors will review the candidate’s application and consider them for permanent membership.
